Alms
The Buddha taught that monastics should go for alms each morning in order to interact with the community and allow individuals to accumulate merit by giving alms. Merit (puñña) is that which has a lasting effect on our existence.
Ajahn Kumāro is an alms mendicant and is only permitted to receive food in the morning and is given directly to him. If you wish to offer Ajahn a meal please email mittameditation@gmail.com with the date and details. Ajahn is permitted to consume particular items in the afternoon which include unsweetened soy milk & cheese; these items may be offered at any time.
Ajahn Kumāro goes on alms round everyday. Ajahn walks from the Meditation Center at 8:30AM and can be found in front of the Whole Foods Market located at 70 Merrimon Ave in Asheville at 9:00AM. It is appropriate to meet with Ajahn during his alms-round to offer food, afternoon allowables, a meal or simply to say hello.
